Should have done this ages ago:

Dear Jozi,
Did you miss me?
I'm so glad to be home again!

I spent the weekend away (kinda) with my friend Chloe and her family in Pretoria. It was her GREAT, great grandmothers birthday party and she so kindly invited me along to hangout with them.

We left on the Friday afternoon, and her Boyfriend drove us all there. I slept in the back seat because I was really tired after school and car rides put me to sleep. Like a little baby :D
We treated ourselves to the best ice-cream in the whole of Joburg, before setting off on our journey.

Chocolate and Mint (: My Favorite!
When we arrived we all got settled. Chloe and I shared a room/bed at the bottom of their house. Because we're sillys, we left the window open and were super cold that night, but the next we snuggled and it was amazing. We all hung out in the living room, watching movies but I was still so tired I fell asleep again, wich was sad because I really wanted to watch the movie The Rebound. We went to bed cause we had a super long day of shmoozing with the family.

Saturday brought the family event:

It was really cool. Everyone embraced the theme of the 1940's despite the chilly weather of winter. Chloe wore a flattering blue shiffon dress, a fur bollero and a 40's style hat. Her cousins and uncles all had hats and suspenders and looked super cool. I had my grandmas shoes and a vintage style coat, but ended up not wearing them because of the cold. Im a loser!

Her cousins Erin and Shane are really cool. They're probably the funniest people in the whole world. We spent the evening with them making hilarious prank calls to people. Mostly people we know because that makes it funnier. We prank called Amy because she's kinda chinese and we thought it would be funny. We were all canning ourselves for AGES! I love them so much!

On Sunday, Chloe and I, hit the shopping mall.
The longest shopping mall in the world!
I joke.
To find her a Matric Dance dress.

SUCCESS!

We tried a couple, but the one we found was the prettiest, and it looked so good on her. Now just for shoes and accessories and we're all set to rock our MD night!
<Watch this space for MD pictures>

Keep your blankets close, and your heaters closer!
With love,
KathrynWHAT

PS. I had a really good time with them, and you. It was great to get away from all the boyfriends and the family and just have some girl time, which I've really missed.
I'm sorry about what I said before Chloe. I love you so much and I just want you to know that what I said was wrong and I realize now how hurtful things I say can be. I hope you'll forgive me and that next year we can be friends again. This is how I really felt about the weekend we spent together, and I'm sorry I ruined the good time we had with anger at you, when I should have been angry at him instead

Marching For Equal Education onJune 16:

Dear Jozi,

Can you believe that almost seventeen years ago to the day on June 16, your streets, those which cars and people travel on everyday were host to the first demonstration march for equal and basic education for all?

Well, I certainly can't, because seventeen years ago, round about June, I was merely an idea. But last Thursday, I was able to join my fellow students from all across Johannesburg on a demonstration march, for basic education.

Because, seventeen years later, unfortunately is not a reality.

I was there with my youth movement, proudly dressed in my school uniform along with hundreds of other students waiting excitedly to get going!

There was singing and chanting and stomping and signs and the vibe was absolutely INcredible.

I took about 800 photos, but here are the best ones:
Showing school support (I didn't personally make this but people from my school did and it made me proud to see that they were there too.)

AHMANDLA!
AHWEHTU!

I'm not asleep.

Everyone keeps telling me that all I do is sleep wich is such rubbish. For one thing I'm always awake when they tell me this so they're blatantly lieing! another thing is I'm not asleep right now so HA! In your face.
I do not sleep all the time.
Although I do quite enjoy a good nap every once in a while.

It seems as though my sleeping patterns have been quite messed up lately (This is probably what everyones talking about...) because of all this exams stress and people being like "its the most important year of your life" stuff its starting to mess with my brain... and I kinda need that...

Lately I've been K.O-ing on the couch at like seven, waking up at like one and then not being able to fall asleep again until four them having to wake up at six for school! My body just cant handle it! Then its like a vicious cycle from being overly tired ALL the time.

On top of all this sleep business I now have to figure out how I'm going to pass my exams whilst being the worlds biggest procrastinator. You see? I could be studying RIGHT NOW! But am I? No. Because its BORRIIING! and I don't wanna. It's so bad, I've even resorted to blogging about the fact that I'm blogging.

Then last night my people were like lets hire loads of Anime and order chinese food and stay up till 3am watching it all! So we did, then slept till 12 in the afternoon and I didn't get any of my studying done. Not to mention the massive hangover I had from the night before celebrations because Kyran won Best Actor at the EADS festival.
Weldone Kezz!

Sigh. Jozi? Why do you have to be so cruel?
With Love,
Kathryn

Dear Jozi,

I went stage diving at their last gig.
I've seen them a couple of times, the first at Thornfest and recently at Cool Runnings in Fourways. It was super awesome and amazing and like the best night of my life.
Yes. Okay. Good.
I am now officially a Desmond and the Tutus Kid!
I want a T-Shirt.

With Love,
Kathryn

Dear Jozi,

T-minus 4 days and counting.
Yes, its that time again.
Exams.

It is our priveledge to sit in the freezing cold school hall, in nothing but our lame barf coloured jerzies and thin grey pants to get what thi country calls an "Eduction". Don't get me wrong, I love to learn! I love going to school! Exams are fun (Oka, that last one was a lie...) but do they really have to make us sit in the coldest place on the whole property?

Enough whineing.
Atleast its only three weeks and by 12:30 the sun shines on my desk so its chilled (hahaha).

Here is my Exam Time Table:
So I don't forget...
  • Afrikaans Literature
  • English Writing
  • Biology
  • LO Practicle
  • English Language
  • Afrikaans Language
  • Visual Art Theory
  • Maths Paper 1
  • LO Theory (Are they joking?)
  • History
  • English Literature
  • Maths Paper 2
Good thing I haven't opened a book nor am I making any effort to... The internet is so much better than Biology.

Jozi, Be kind to us? Hold off on the wind for a while? Its a bit chilly outside (and by chilly I mean basically GALE FORCE WINDS!) Please? I'm running out of space under my pants to wear more tights and socks!

With Love,
Kathryn
